Washington D.C., February 22, 2011 – PlanetPix Media & Entertainment Group is raising the stakes after a string of intercultural comedy shows in the Los Angeles area in December 2010. The group announced today that the world famous Egyptian-American comedian and actor Ahmed Ahmed will headline ‘FUNATICAL: Taking Comedy to the Extreme’s “We Come in Peace Tour”’ on Thursday night, April 14th, 2011 at Arlington Cinema and Saturday night, April 16th, 2011 at Ernst Cultural Theater in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Ahmed Ahmed is an actor and comedian who has appeared in Iron Man, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, Swingers, Roseanne, MTV’s PUNK’D, Comedy Central and Showtime. He has also appeared on CNN, The View, NPR and was the recipient of the first annual Richard Pryor Award for Ethnic Comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. A regular performer at the world famous Comedy Store in Hollywood and Comedy Cellar in New York City, Ahmed tours across America and the world. Just Like Us is his recent directorial debut which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2010.
‘FUNATICAL: Taking Comedy to the Extreme!’ bridges gaps and breaks stereotypes about Muslims, Jews, Christians and other major faiths. With increased Islamophobia in America and the current turmoil in the Middle East, ‘FUNATICAL’ promotes cultural and religious understanding through laughter. The shows are produced by an interfaith team who use comedy as an equalizer to counter prejudices in a humorous way.
The shows will benefit the Nooristan Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides support for charitable and educational projects in Afghanistan.

Beauty and the East TV is a media sponsor of a new comedy tour that is coming to Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C.! Launching this December, FUNATICAL: Taking Comedy to the Extreme tour’s motto is ‘We Come in Peace’, and features multicultural comedians who are Arab, Iranian, South Asian and American of different faiths. Produced by PlanetPix Media & Entertainment Group, the “FUNATICAL” tour launches in Southern California on December 9th at the World Famous Comedy Store and continues on to New York City in January 2011 and the D.C. area in early March.
